Bratislava Collectors Days at Incheba once again demonstrated the strong public interest in collecting and in objects connected with history. Thousands of visitors from Slovakia and abroad attended the two-day event, with the presentation of the Slovak Society of Olympic and Sports Collectors among its popular destinations.
SSOŠZ prepared a selection of Olympic and sports memorabilia. The display included postage stamps, badges, medals, mascots, Olympic torches, coins signed by Olympians and clothing worn by the Slovak delegation at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. Through authentic objects, the exhibition brought sporting history and the stories of athletes and events closer to visitors.
An autograph session with prominent Slovak athletes was one of the programme highlights. Olympic medallists Miloslav Mečíř and Jozef Krnáč met visitors alongside 1976 European football champions Ján Čapkovič, Jozef Čapkovič and Ján Pivarník. Interest was exceptional: all 700 prepared autograph cards were handed out in about an hour.
The annual electoral membership meeting of SSOŠZ also took place during the event. Founded in 2008, the society has been a member of the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee from the beginning. Members re-elected Branislav Delej, who has led the organisation since its foundation, as chairman for the next term.
Velimir Adžić was elected vice-chairman. Peter Osuský, Zdenko Kríž and Zdenka Letenayová became members of the executive committee, while Ivan Krechňák will chair the supervisory board during the coming term.
The event extended well beyond sports collecting. Visitors could also explore numismatics, minerals, gemstones, fossils, prints, historic postcards and books. A machine offering souvenir zero-euro banknotes attracted particular attention.
The zero-euro banknote featuring figure skater and Olympic champion Ondrej Nepela proved especially successful and sold out in about three hours, while notes featuring the Bratislava character Schöne Náci remained available until the end of the event. By bringing together the public, sporting personalities and collectors, Bratislava Collectors Days underlined the role of SSOŠZ in preserving Slovakia’s sporting heritage.
